Concept Korea Brings Fashion and Cinema Together in Paris for SS27

Concept Korea 2027

Concept Korea brought Korean fashion and cinema together in Paris on 1 October, presenting its Spring/Summer 2027 edition at the Palais de Tokyo with a joint runway show by BONBOM and ASPARAGUS.

Hosted by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organised by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), the programme brought together members of the French fashion industry, press and wider audiences. The presentation continued Concept Korea’s approach of placing fashion in conversation with other creative disciplines, following previous collaborations with dance, music and film.

This season, cinema became the starting point. The programme opened with the premiere of How to Walk at Madame Cinéma, the cinema within Palais de Tokyo. Directed by Ock-seop Yi and starring actress Minha Kim and model Taejun Hong, the fashion film interpreted the creative worlds of BONBOM and ASPARAGUS before the collections moved onto the runway.

BONBOM Finds Optimism in Obsession

For Spring/Summer 2027, BONBOM explored Optimistic Fetishism, examining the relationship between desire, fixation and the way clothing is viewed on the body.

Silhouette became the central focus. Garments appear slender and sharply defined from the front, then reveal unexpected volume from the side, creating a deliberate tension between two-dimensional perception and three-dimensional form.

The collection extended this play with perspective through exaggerated hair silhouettes and sculptural styling. BONBOM also placed knitwear at the centre of the season, using loose, sheer constructions that sit close to the body like a second skin.

The open-knit structures reveal the skin while allowing air to pass through, turning a material usually associated with warmth and protection into something lighter and more exposed. The contrast between concealment and revelation reflects the collection’s wider interest in opposing impressions.

ASPARAGUS Holds Contradictions Together

ASPARAGUS approached SS27 through Practical Poet, a collection concerned with the fragile space between masculinity and femininity, structure and softness, and protection and exposure.

Rather than seeking a perfect balance between these opposing forces, the collection considers the effort required to hold them together. Garments, bodies, styling, sound and performance become part of one system, creating a sense of controlled tension.

The result places contradiction at the centre of the collection’s visual language. Practical Poet treats opposing qualities not as problems to resolve, but as elements that can exist within the same fashion identity.

Korean Fashion Meets a Wider Cultural Landscape

The presentation also highlighted Concept Korea’s wider role in supporting Korean designers as they develop international audiences. The programme has previously connected Korean fashion with other cultural forms and continues to use overseas fashion weeks as a platform for global exposure.

Concept Korea ambassadors SHOWNU and HYUNGWON of MONSTA X attended the presentation wearing pieces from BONBOM and ASPARAGUS. Their presence brought another layer of Korean popular culture into the programme, connecting fashion, music and entertainment within the same international setting.

Through its partnership with KOCCA, Concept Korea continues to support Korean designer brands through international fashion week participation and other global platforms. The programme also aims to develop further collaborations between fashion, film, music and other forms of cultural content.

In Paris, that approach became particularly clear. By placing a fashion film before the runway presentation, Concept Korea allowed BONBOM and ASPARAGUS to introduce not only what they were showing but also the worlds behind the clothes.

For SS27, Korean fashion was presented as part of a wider creative conversation, where cinema, performance, music and clothing can shape the same story.
