Ottolinger’s Moisturizer Puts the Body Back at the Centre for SS27

Ottolinger Moisturizer SS27 runway look

Ottolinger returned to Paris for Spring/Summer 2027 with Moisturizer, a collection built around a simple question: what do clothes do for the person who wears them? For Creative Directors Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch, the answer begins with the body, focusing on the confidence, comfort and attitude that clothing can create.

The collection revisits the foundations of the Berlin-based label, known for its deconstructed approach to dressing. Knotted, burned and twisted construction gives way to new lines, drapes and turns, while the clothes are designed to work with the body rather than simply impose a visual code on it.

From the Bathroom to the Wardrobe

The starting point for Moisturizer was unexpectedly intimate. The collection takes its name from the few minutes spent in the bathroom before leaving home, when applying moisturiser becomes part of a morning ritual and a moment to consider how you want to feel that day.

Ottolinger translates that feeling into clothing. The collection moves between the studio and the beach, morning and night, and Berlin and Paris, creating a wardrobe that is intended to feel as natural in movement as it does in appearance.

For the first time, the designers worked with a fine deconstructed silk viscose jersey, alongside denim, suit fabrics and jogging materials. Draped dresses and trousers sit close to the body, while lurex bikinis are held in place by padded tubes, creating a contrast between structure, softness and exposure.

The result is a collection that retains the tension that has long defined Ottolinger while allowing comfort to take a more visible role. Garments wrap, follow and hold the body, with the wearer’s presence completing the design.

That relationship between clothing and confidence sits at the heart of Moisturizer. Rather than presenting fashion as a fixed identity, Ottolinger treats getting dressed as a daily act of transformation, one that can begin with something as ordinary as standing in front of a mirror.

With its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, the label brings its language of deconstruction into a softer register. Moisturizer suggests that the most effective clothes do not simply change how a person looks. They can change how that person feels inside their own skin.
