This is not a protest; VALENTINE’S DAY IS FOR EVERYONE. Again, this is not a protest. Contrary to popular opinion, I really don’t think Valentine’s Day is a “sad’ day for the singles. Not only me but a lot of other people who are actually in the single space. “I don’t know what gives the impression that single people are lonely people, girl; I’m just in a relationship with myself. There’s a lot of love here,” says Deborah Mensah.
There’s no rule against self-love, is there? Harry says, “I know some people don’t really dig the idea of self-love because of the possible extremity. People would be outright toxic and call it self-love. Get this from me; there’s nothing as refreshing as loving yourself.” How about we channel the love back to ourselves then?
Singles’ Tales of How Best to Spend Valentine’s Day
It’s safe to say that there are millions of plans going on around the world just for Valentine’s Day, and a lot of partners are waiting to be pleasantly surprised. It’s the same buzz and hype every year, yet each year it feels new. Valentine plans are not exclusive to the ‘hooked and dating’, that’s for sure. For these sets of single people, here’s what a well-spent Valentine’s Day would be.
Let’s take a cue from Miss E (Switzerland): “I would like to take myself out on Vals Day to a fancy restaurant. I actually enjoy watching lovers behave the way they do, especially on Valentine’s day…” I love fancy restaurants too. It’s better to get a reservation before it’s all booked up. This feels like watching love stories, but in fragments. Just a stranger in the background witnessing beautiful moments of love. Miss Chocolate from Lagos has a little different feeling. She’s the indoor type. “For me, I’d love to be away from the world in the little haven of my room. I must have music, electricity, a colder temperature, water, lots of food and junk, and my phone, the one I love, all in one room.”
Valentine’s Day Tips for Singles
In Harry’s words, “Shower all the love on you; I plan to buy myself a lovely sneaker. I have wanted it for a long time. I will just go ahead and buy it; I’ll have it boxed up so that I can act all surprised when I unbox it.” I’m all for the drama, too.
