Why We Love Male Kdrama  Protagonists

Over the years, K-dramas have gained popularity across many countries. The plot lines have evolved over different genres, from romance to thriller to sci-fi action, portraying Korea’s beautiful culture, fashion, music, food, beauty, and lifestyle. There’s a high rate of consumption of K-dramas, due not only to the good storylines but also to the appealing culture and lifestyle. We don’t live in Korea, but we would say “annyeonghaseyo,” like we lived there all our lives. We would order a plate of kimchi or ramyeon like it’s been fed to us since childhood.

Kdramas came in and swept us off our feet in the early 2010s. For a lot of people, it was love at first sight, and for others, it took some gentle courting, charm, and subtle persuasion, but in the end, Kdrama found its way into our hearts. The fashion statements made by Kdrama protagonists, especially the rich characters, can be very impressive. Korean fashion is promoted through these, and I think everyone knows at least one person whose wardrobe ensemble is inspired by Korean fashion.

• Fantastic Acting

While we daydream and love these Kdrama actors, we must keep in mind that what we see is an actor embodying his character all through. That’s why we love them; they make it look so real, making us emotionally invested in the story. We might live all the way on the other side of the world, but the trueness of their performance draws us closer. • The Catch in Time

It’s the way these K-drama heroes swoop in to stop a fall. They are always right on time. Haven’t you ever imagined being caught in the arms of one of these heroes while time slows down a little bit for you to stare into their piercing eyes and perfect facial features?

• Thoughtfulness

We can both agree that they can be a little egoistic and stubborn, but their thoughtfulness outweighs the latter. They would show up with an extra pair of comfortable shoes for the lady in distress, a piggyback ride for a tired damsel, or a pack of food for the princess with the large appetite while they watched her eat with genuine fascination.

• The Bad Boy Trait

This is usually the first trait we encounter. It is why we dislike them at first, but then we find them charming as the story progresses. A lady wants her man to be firm and confident in himself. Our kdrama protagonists know how to be confident. You’ll see it in their unbothered strides, controlled expressions, and how they take charge of a dramatic situation with their delicate female protagonist.
