The Seoul-based fashion brand SAN SAN GEAR unveils its 2027 Spring/Summer collection through an exclusive showroom during Paris Fashion Week.

This season, SAN SAN GEAR set out to more actively embody the persona at the core of the brand’s identity. The persona for the 2027 Spring/Summer season is defined by individuals with a strong and distinctive sense of personal taste. Drawing inspiration from self-directed figures found in everyday life, the collection reflects those who spend their commute immersed in a favorite book or actively seek out performances by artists they admire, expressing their individuality through the choices they make. SAN SAN GEAR imagined these individuals and turned its attention to the contradictions of the present era,where self-determination and passivity coexist in constant tension. Contemporary individuals are often expected to fulfill multiple roles and responsibilities across various social groups, including family, friends, and the workplace. SAN SAN GEAR sought to create a deliberate escape and that led to the concept of ‘Soft Focus’—a theme centered on intentionally distancing oneself from the roles imposed by society. In a world where everything is expected to remain perfectly sharp and high-resolution, Soft Focus proposes a moment of intentional blur-a space for psychological respite.

SAN SAN GEAR Spring/Summer 2027 collection is built around the idea of Soft Focus—a deliberate shift in attention, a recalibration of the gaze. It combines the brand’s signature technical aesthetic with a touch of casual sensibility, placing emphasis on the contrast created by the interplay of different material textures through out the looks. Brick red and green are used as accent colors to bring a sense of lightness and energy suited to the Spring/Summer season.

Casual materials such as cotton and jersey are paired with technical fabrics including nylon and polyester within a single look, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of each material through their juxtaposition. The season’s core concept, Soft Focus, is expressed through the use of a single fabric with its face and reverse sides intentionally alternated within a garment. This approach embodies the coexistence of different roles and identities within a single material, allowing contrasting textures and visual expressions to emerge from the same fabric. Additionally, for items designed with a more casual mood, functional details and structural elements were incorporated to maintain SAN SAN GEAR’s signature technical aesthetic.

Meanwhile, at its Paris showroom, SAN SAN GEAR offers an immersive experience that reinterprets Soft Focus, the theme of the 2027 Spring/Summer collection, through an exhibition of art objects by German artist Clemens Fischer. By employing analog automata mechanisms while paradoxically by passing digital media, the work seeks to demonstrate its connection to the message of Soft Focus, a search for psychological breathing space amid the overstimulation and heightened demands on attention that characterize contemporary society.

The Paris showroom will open with a media day on June 23 and remain on view through June26.
