Mercedes-Benz Fashion Live! Slovak National Gallery hosted Exceptional Design Talents

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Live!

The first day of the 10th Mercedes-Benz Fashion Live has started in a festive atmosphere at the new venue, the Slovak National Gallery. This prestigious event brings a touch of elegance and beauty that gives the Slovak fashion scene a new dimension and offers an unforgettable celebration for its viewers. This year’s event began with an energetic parade of young, talented designers from the Zlín Clothing Design Studio. The second show by Monika Mandač under the Mandach brand showed the designer’s original vision of fashion. Jakub Matiašovič brought a breath of innovation with his first solo show. Lenka Sršňová, on the other hand, impressed the audience with her bold approach and hints of social themes. As a grand finale, the audience could enjoy the collection of Martin Hrča, who, once again, surprised the audience with his mastery of working with materials.

The first day of the fashion event emphasized the ideas of creativity, innovation, and individual expression. Each of the featured designers brought their unique vision and style, their presentations took the form of an artistic performance or a journey into the world of
dreams and fantasy…

Lenka Sršňová – All colors of love

Lenka Sršňová, one of the most prominent Slovak design personalities, surprised the
audience with a departure from her distinctive colors and patterns, which have
characterized her work so far. In an unusual way, she also gave space to male models. Lenka
has put together the LOVEafFAIR collection, which celebrates love in its many forms and
presents unconventional wedding dresses that boldly avoid the traditional white color.
Lenka works with variability and a modular approach to wedding dresses. It means that the
dress is not designed for one use only on the wedding day. Every bride can enjoy them again
and again, which is an unusual step in the approach to bridal fashion. Radka Kovačíková’s
distinctive jewelry completed the wedding outfits.

Lenka Sršňová’s collection reveals that love knows no borders and traditions. However, her
tours do not end only with the presentation of her work. They often express a reference to
current social issues. The fashion show was accompanied by live music performed by
Magdalena Izakovičová on the cello and Matia B – Complex, adding a touch of art to the
already engaging presentation.

Martin Hrča – Material dreams and timeless beauty

The work of Martin Hrča is like a dream world full of ideas, timeless beauty, and originality.
His collection, like his previous works, brought viewers a unique visual and emotional
experience. As the models moved slowly down the catwalk, their dresses seemed to resist
the gusts of wind. Martin experiments with materials and shapes of clothes, emphasizing
detail and beauty in everyday moments. His work touches on durability, timelessness, and
communication through clothing. On his participation in Mercedez-Benz Fashion LIVE!,
Martin says: “I see this year’s MBFL! as a wonderful landmark of the ten-year effort of all of
us participants to change the perception of fashion in Slovakia and to enrich the overall
visual identity of the country. It is a celebration of creativity that no fashion enthusiast
should miss.” His new collection was once again accompanied by Kristýna Španihelová’s
jewelry. Hrča is a true example of how fashion can be art and a means of self-expression.

Jakub Matiašovič – An experiment with textiles and style

Jakub Matiašovič, one of the Best Fashion Talent 2022 award finalists, brought his unique
vision to the world of fashion. His collections are full of experimentation with fabrics, prints,
and unconventional clothing designs. The “JM Adolescence” collection by Jakub is inspired
by brutalist architecture, in which the three stages of human development – childhood,
puberty, and adulthood – intertwine. His work is full of bold silhouettes and unusual textile
processing, with a strong emphasis on comfort and functionality.

Young fashion with a voice

The students of the Clothing Design studio in Zlín also showed their passion for fashion and
the ambition to present their talented works. Barbora Vajčner Miklíčková impressed the
audience with her functional embroidery in the “Villain” collection, Diana Gundová
presented the “Universe” collection with clothing labels for various occasions, and Jan
Kopčák charmed the audience with the romantic “LADA – Closet of Life” collection. Tereza
Koukalová teamed up with the Woox company and created a collection that brings a new
original author’s print that fits perfectly with the style of the Woox brand. Barbora Cingeľová
presented knitwear inspired by pixel graphics. These young designers represent the future
of Czech and Slovak fashion, and their courage to experiment and innovate represents a
refreshing hope for the industry.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Live! celebrates ten years of innovation, creativity, and exceptional
design in the Slovak fashion scene. Together with our talented designers and promising students, we are ready to continue this journey and bring even more innovation and beauty
into the world of fashion,” said Zora Husarčíková, the event manager.
