A new era dawns at Isabell Kristensen Couture as the celebrated couture house presents its latest bridal collection at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2025. This unveiling marks a bold chapter, with Creative Director Martin Kristensen leading the international brand’s exquisite new bridal line – honouring the house’s heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary couture.
A New Chapter in Couture
Under Martin Kristensen’s creative direction, the brand introduces a ruthlessly romantic bridal collection, where statement designs meet meticulous craftsmanship. Martin Kristensen draws inspiration from legendary designers such as Holger Blom, the iconic Danish couturier renowned for his work for the Danish royal family and for elevating Danish couture to international acclaim. This season’s gowns are sculptural, inspired by the structural elegance of antique corsetry and Victorian-era techniques, notably Charles Frederick Worth’s pioneering of the crinoline hooped skirt, which revolutionised both silhouette and movement in 19th-century fashion. Each piece celebrates the feminine form with daring construction and decadent hand appliqué, balanced by disciplined, clean lines and geometric precision – a true symphony of symmetry.
Martin Kristensen’s vision brings fresh energy, innovating traditional bridal codes for a new generation. The collection is designed to captivate: bold silhouettes, striking finishes, and couture fabric manipulation deliver an original interpretation of bridal romance, without excess.
Conscious Craftsmanship: Bridging Luxury & Sustainability
Martin’s commitment to responsible luxury deepens with this collection. Driven by the principles of bridging luxury and sustainability, the house demonstrates that exquisite craftsmanship and environmental responsibility can coexist. Over 56% of the collection’s fabrics are sourced from Martin’s range – including Seaqual, made from recycled discarded sea nets reengineered as stiff dress nets for structured pieces, and rNylon yarns spun from reclaimed industrial offcuts.
Key sustainability steps in Isabell Kristensen Bridal Collection include:
● Ordering from mills with REACH compliance and ISO 14001:2015 accreditation
● Use of 100% Seaqual® and rNylon yarns
● Zero FormaldehydeTM and Flare Free BS EN 71:2 certified fabrics
● Support for Azo-free dyes
● Ethically sourced materials, certified to the highest environmental standards
● Local in-house production, significantly reducing the brand’s carbon footprint
Martin Kristensen has been instrumental in driving these changes, forging new relationships with mills and suppliers specialising in eco alternatives, and ensuring each gown is crafted with longevity and ethical consideration in mind.
“Couture is the antidote to fast fashion,” says Martin Kristensen. “As a brand we take pride in making pieces that stand the test of time. Our aim is to create gowns that span generations, as heirlooms.”
