Bobkova, the Ukrainian fashion brand founded by Kristina Bobkova, presents its Spring-Summer 2024 collection at Berlin Fashion Week. Inspired by the beauty of gardens and the designer’s personal love for gardening, this collection pays homage to the sacred connection between Ukrainians and nature. It also reflects the aspirational hope that permeates Bobkova’s life and work in Kyiv, the city where all the brand’s collections are meticulously designed and crafted.

Drawing inspiration from the elegant shape and hues of the mallow flower—a significant symbol in Ukrainian culture representing protection—the collection features a stunning print created by Ukrainian artist Polina Moroz. The colour palette embodies the subtlety of the flower, with shades such as vanilla, milky lime, dusted rose, blush, and greyish beige. Vibrant and fresh colours like lavish green and sunny yellow are also present, reminiscent of the picturesque Ukrainian landscapes.

Highlighting the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and local talent, Bobkova collaborates with Ukrainian ceramist artist Jeva Smith to handcraft porcelain earrings and necklaces. These delicate pieces resemble garlands of mallow flowers, adding a touch of elegance and femininity to the collection.

A Sacral Connection: Bobkova’s Commitment to Sustainability

Central to Bobkova’s ethos is a conscious approach to fashion production. All garments are ethically produced in Ukraine, and the brand actively practises upcycling to minimise waste. Leftover textiles are transformed into ribbons and knit into textured fabrics, which are then incorporated into dresses, jumpers, tops, shoes, and bags. The decorative flowers are meticulously assembled from lace and silk remnants. The brand’s dedication to handmade details ensures that each piece is unique, with intentional imperfections that showcase the signs of skilled craftsmanship, such as visible stitches and cuts.

The Spring-Summer 2024 collection embodies the strength and femininity that define the Bobkova brand. Masculine trouser suits with oversized shoulders are paired with wide-legged or fitted trousers, providing modern women with both style and comfort. The collection also showcases a variety of dresses—a signature element of Bobkova’s designs. The designer utilises the bias cut technique for knitted and silk dresses, creating fluid and body-flattering silhouettes. These dresses take centre stage alongside loose-fit shirt dresses and enchanting poncho dresses adorned with handcrafted textile flowers. The looks are completed with mules featuring upcycled textile uppers and flat pump leather shoes.

Capturing the essence of casual elegance, the Spring-Summer 2024 collection exudes a relaxed yet feminine mood. Costumes embellished with smoking details, cascading ribbons from décolleté areas, and flower decorations exude a strong femininity, reminiscent of mallow blossoms.

In short, Bobkova’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection beautifully encapsulates the designer’s passion for Ukrainian culture and her unwavering commitment to conscious fashion. With its celebration of craftsmanship, elegance, and female empowerment, this collection exudes joy and tells a captivating story of style and sustainability.
