Women’s Health: Checks and Tests

Visual guide highlighting the importance of regular health checks and tests in women's healthcare, from reproductive health to general wellness

Can we come to a unanimous agreement that women tend to put everything else before their health? Between goals, career, children, responsibilities, and duties, taking a proper check sinks to the bottom of the list. I think about everything else except my checks and tests. I am of the opinion that women should be more proactive about their health.

Apart from eating healthy and exercising, there are important tests that should be taken from time to time. We women think about making money, raising kids, and creating legacies. What fun is there if we don’t get to witness our own successes? Growing fatal statistics can be stopped with an early nip at the bud.

Since it’s international women’s month, might we take a couple of days off to catch up on our health? Stay up to date on the newest in the world of Fashion, Arts, Beauty and Lifestyle; Follow FAB on Instagram.

Cervical Screening

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women, with a sadly high mortality rate. In 2020, according to WHO global statistics, there were an estimated 341,831 deaths and 604,127 new cases. The disease is caused by a very common virus called the Human Papilloma Virus. A lot of HPV cases are asymptomatic, but they are responsible for a lot of cancers that develop long after the HPV virus has cleared. Cervical screening will help in the early detection of cancer cells. Every sexually active female should do a periodic screening.

Breast Examination

Research says that 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. It’s quite a common diagnosis among women, but it can also be detected early and prevented. Periodic self-examination for breast lumps and physical abnormalities can prevent cancer growth or detect the cancer at a very early stage. It is recommended that women between the ages of 40 and 70 go for mammogram tests for proper screening.

Gynaecology check

A general gynaecology test should be done to confirm that everything is as it should be: a vulva examination, a culture test, and a biopsy as recommended by your physician. Women have a lot of capacity to achieve amazing things. It would be a huge relief to have reproductive health care under control while we face other businesses.

Blood Pressure/ Cholesterol Level/ Blood Sugar

One of the leading causes of death among women in the world is said to be cardiovascular disease. This could be prevented or managed by doing diligent follow-up on the blood pressure, cholesterol level, and blood sugar level. Diseases like diabetes, stroke, and hypertension can be kept at bay. By getting the appropriate kits and with a doctor’s guidance, these three tests can be carried out in the comfort of your homes.

How To Be Mindful of Your Health Checks

  • Set reminders
  • Have an accountability partner or partners, perhaps a group of women.
  • Put money aside or get health insurance.
  • Make appointments ahead.
