Baroque Elegance Meets Modern Fragility in Pierre-Louis Mascia FW25

This season, designers Pierre-Louis Mascia and his team explore a new space-time, a radical way of experiencing reality. In this raw, industrial setting, time appears suspended, stretched; the space is liberated. The house weaves a universe in which its characters, in their wandering quest, seek to recognize themselves, to share an emotion, to resist in an uncertain world. This deliberately cold, non-setting contrasts with the enveloping softness of the creations, a way to ward off the present.

In this off-place with heterotopian overtones, the house blends “Keatsian” references with influences from the Victorian era and the Italian Renaissance. This collection, conceived as a visual poem, explores the search for the sensuous in an increasingly cold and dark world. PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA invites us into a profound reflection on human fragility and the very essence of art. It echoes the Schopenhauerian vision of the artist as a sensitive and solitary being, in search of fragile beauty in a world often indifferent to this quest. For the designers, creation is a release, an act of both resistance and fragility. Through their silhouettes, they capture the wandering of the human soul, torn between beauty and pain. «Wandering is the very essence of creation, it is what enables freedom.»

Collaboration with Achille Pinto

True to its stylistic signature, the house moves between lightness and movement, fluid tailoring and casual elegance. Silhouettes are enveloped in bombers, long coats lined with silk, flowing, ethereal dresses, shawls, and protective stoles. Floating trousers are paired with velvet kimonos and quilted jackets. Known for his baroque prints, eclectic amalgams of motifs and various chimeras, the designer works closely with Achille Pinto, a textile printing workshop based in Como since 1933. This season, PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA introduces twenty new original prints, including a dozen for ready-to-wear. The motifs are mixed, painted, redrawn, composed and recomposed, transformed in a subtle blend of analog and digital techniques. Here, we encounter echoes of the melancholic portraits of Julia Margaret Cameron, the Pre-Raphaelite drawings of dandy artist Aubrey Beardsley, symbolizing the decadence of the fin de siècle, and melancholic fragments of Bright Star. This quest for the ephemeral is embodied in luxurious fabrics.

PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA FW25 invites us into a visual and emotional experience that transcends fashion to become a true ode to melancholy, an unrelenting quest for beauty in a sometimes hostile world. Each piece becomes a living tribute to beauty, an outlet for the emotions and wounds of daily life.

The PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA runway show is punctuated by an original soundtrack composed by Thomas Zaï-Gillot, under the artistic direction of the Irréel studio. In parallel with the PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA collection, Thomas Zaï-Gillot plays with references, creating and recreating musical compositions. His approach is distinguished by his ability to blend diverse influences, drawing from various musical genres, ranging from classical to contemporary: today, the world of The Cure meets that of Gustav Mahler.
