How to Achieve Natural Glowing Skin During Summer 2024

Summer is the time to be more intentional about one’s skin health, or else all the previous months’ work might go right down the drain. We shouldn’t get carried away by the sun and the pleasures of the season. Although summer goes by so fast, we don’t want any form of lingering damage to the skin. The heat, humidity, and increased exposure to the sun can make it challenging to maintain healthy skin, but it isn’t impossible to have naturally glowing skin in the summer and through all the seasons. Here’s a comprehensive guide to achieving and maintaining natural glowing skin during the summer months.

Hydration is Key

Drink plenty of water. If you already have a product layer that suits your skin type, the next productive thing you can do for your skin is stay hydrated. Hydration is essential for maintaining glowing skin, as it helps to wash out toxins and aid skin elasticity. The daily goal should be 8 glasses of water every day, alongside water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and strawberries. These foods not only keep you hydrated but also provide essential vitamins and minerals.

Sun Protection

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day after your skincare routine, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating. Avoid the sub if you can. Whenever possible, stay in the shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun’s rays are the strongest. Take cool showers to refresh your skin and close pores. Hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.

Skincare Routine

It is important to have a skin care routine this summer. The skin is the largest organ of the body and holds everything together. Daily, it is subjected to dirt, UV rays, heat, and other aggressors. Always use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, sweat, and excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Opt for a cleanser with ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile to soothe the skin. Exfoliate your skin 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Even in the summer, moisturising is vital. You can use a lightweight moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores. Incorporate a vitamin C serum into your routine to brighten your skin and protect it from free radicals. Vitamin C is an essential product for summer because it helps to fade sunspots and hyperpigmentation.

Diet and Nutrition

Balanced Diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Nutrient-rich foods support skin health and contribute to a natural glow.

Antioxidants: Foods high in antioxidants, such as berries, nuts, seeds, and green tea, help combat oxidative stress and protect the skin from damage.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Incorporate sources of omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts, to keep your skin supple and reduce inflammation.

Stress Management

Stress can trigger skin issues like acne and dullness. Practice stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. During sleep, your skin undergoes repair and regeneration, contributing to a healthy glow.

Natural Remedies Hacks

  • Aloe Vera

Apply aloe vera gel to soothe sunburns and hydrate the skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and irritation.

  • Cucumber

Place cucumber slices on your eyes, or blend cucumber into a paste and apply it to your face. Cucumber has cooling and hydrating properties that refresh the skin.

  • Honey

Use raw honey as a face mask to lock in moisture and provide antibacterial benefits. Honey can help achieve a soft, radiant complexion. Stay up to date on the latest in fashion, arts, beauty, and lifestyle by following FAB L’Style Magazine.
