It is tapping season in the fashion industry as Gucci appoints Louis Vuitton communications executive Stefano Cantino as deputy CEO of the Italian fashion house.

Kering has confirmed that Cantino will resume duties on May 2 and will work closely with Jean-François Palus, president and CEO of Gucci, as well as Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s deputy CEO in charge of brand development.

According to Paulus, “Cantino’s extensive experience in the luxury industry at senior levels in various organisations, his wide range of expertise, as well as his strategic thinking and his artistic culture, make him a major addition to my team. Stefano will work very closely with me, and in full alignment with all the Gucci team, to implement our action plans across the business.”

More so, Bellettini, who knew Cantino during the early days of her career when she worked at Prada, described his appointment at Gucci as “another step in the reinforcement of the iconic Florentine house.” She also stated, “His extensive experience in strategic roles in prominent companies in the luxury sector is a valuable addition to Jean-François’ strong leadership and Sabato’s creative strength. Together with them and the entire Gucci team, we will write a new and highly successful chapter in the history of our magnificent brand.”

Cantino, who has spent a good part of his 22-year career at Prada in various business development and marketing roles and at Vuitton, where his experience in communications events also stretched to retail touch points, remarked, “I am very proud to join Gucci, the house that owns the richest heritage in Italian luxury, as it begins a new chapter in its history. I look forward to contributing with full dedication to the definition and implementation of the strategy that Jean-François Palus has initiated, and I can’t wait to work with all the Gucci team towards success.”

Robert Pattinson Appears as Face of Spring Dior Icons Campaign Again

Robert Pattinson has maintained his role as the face of the Dior Icons capsule of essentials for the French fashion house’s spring campaign.

British photographer Alasdair McLellan, alongside stylist Melanie Ward, makeup artist Lynsey Alexander, and hair stylist Anthony Turner, worked together for the shoot.

To suit spring’s warm weather, Dior’s artistic director of menswear, Kim Jones, has added silk-blend shirts, lighter gauge knits, and Harrington-style blousons to his masculine capsule wardrobe of wide-leg trousers and structured coats. New accessories, including backpacks and weekender bags, were also featured in the campaign.

While the spring Dior Icons capsule will launch May 2 in Dior boutiques, the line made its debut in December, with the campaign featuring Robert Pattinson, who has been the face of Dior Homme fragrance since 2013. Advertising Executive Blake Harrop From Weiden + Kennedy Set to Lead Image and Communication at Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has employed the president of Amsterdam advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy as its new executive vice president of image and communications. Blake Harrop is ready to take on his new role at Vuitton in Paris on May 2. He will be joining the management committee and reporting to Pietro Beccari, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton.

Harrop will be substituting Stefano Cantino, who is leaving Vuitton after six years to become deputy CEO at Gucci. This step by Louis Vuitton is very on brand, as the fashion house increased its investment in advertising last year to 7% of revenues, which translates to about 1.63 billion euros.

Having worked with a number of exquisite consumer brands, such as Samsung, Nike, Allianz, Hennessy, Evian, Visa, Google, and Montblanc, Harrop is set to bring his wealth of experience to the Louis Vuitton brand.

In an internal memo by Beccari, he remarked, “Blake has extensive communications and marketing expertise, with over 20 years of international experience, over half of which he acquired at the advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy.” He also trusts in Blake’s team-building spirit, as he stated on Thursday: “Thanks to Blake’s former experience as a professional Judoka, which also echoes my own sporting background, I am confident of his capacity to inspire passion and collectiveness within his new team at Louis Vuitton.”
