On February 7th, GLÜCK showed its new couture collection under the title “Beyond reality with GLÜCK: a surrealistic dreamscape”. The label, founded in Ukraine, celebrated its Berlin Fashion Week debut with an extraordinary presentation and took visitors into an imaginative
dream world with artistic costumes and a playful dramaturgy.
GLÜCK was founded in Kyiv in 2019 and is not just a clothing brand – it embodies a mood, an atmosphere. Starting with its name: GLÜCK means ‘hallucinations’ in Ukrainian and ‘happiness’ or ‘luck’ in German. The fashion label, which now has its headquarters in Berlin, plays with this ambiguity and redefines party wear – with growing success. In his design

GLÜCK inspired by the four elements earth, air, fire and water
The new couture collection from GLÜCK is inspired by the four elements earth, air, fire and water – the fashion performance was also translated into four dream worlds. Each formed a framework – a universe of its own – for the impressive surrealist-style clothing. The elaborately constructed looks reflect fashion as an art form and are a symbol of creativity and imagination: for example, the lilac dress made of assembled puzzle pieces and an oversized puzzle piece made of fake fur, which served as a headpiece. Each look was created by hand and using a wide variety of materials: specially printed textiles, plaster tape, mushrooms, sequins, origami flowers and glass beads were used, among other things. In order to bring the silhouettes to life with vivid emotional messages, detailed couture work was carried out in the creation of individual decorative elements.
“With our designs and the runway show, I want to present more than just clothes: we have created a show that is fun and interactive at the same time – like a theater performance,” says Egor Bashtovenko.
Designer Egor Bashtovenko specializes in creations made from patent and mesh fabrics and therefore likes to experiment with textiles that are difficult to process. So it is not surprising that biotechnological processes were also used for his new creations. “In this collection we worked, among other things, with textiles that were obtained from mushrooms,” says Leo Lemberg, co-founder of GLÜCK and trained biotechnologist.
