Vienna is about to come alive with the sounds, colours, and energy of Africa as the 8th Edition of the African Jamboreetakes over Heubergstättenstraße 1 on Friday, August 15, 2025. From football tournaments to traditional dance, from authentic cuisine to artfully told stories of heritage, this festival is more than just a day of entertainment—it is a living, breathing celebration of African identity.
A Brief History of the African Jamboree Festival
The African Jamboree, organized by PATEB (Pan-African Sport and Cultural Union), has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2013. That first edition—remembered for its iconic football match between veteran players over 40 and younger Vienna-based talents—set the tone for what would become a yearly tradition of unity, culture, and pride.

By 2024, the event had grown into a multinational gathering, with 12 African countries competing in the football tournament and over 24 participants in the table tennis competition. But the heart of the Jamboree has always been its cultural stage: traditional dances from Senegal, Benin, Yoruba, Igbo, Cameroon, and Ethiopia, each performance a vivid reminder of the continent’s diversity.
