Today, Vanessa Baernthol unveiled her runway debut Fall/Winter 2025 collection “REBUILT”, at Berlin Fashion Week. Known for her architectural approach to fashion and strong commitment to sustainable production, Baernthol presents a collection that deconstructs and redefines layering as an artistic and functional practice. The show took place at the art venue Quantum Oddity Gallery Berlin, Ku’damm, reflecting the collection’s fusion of fashion and art.
Following the success of previous presentation formats such as the “Heaven And Hell” BFW showroom exhibition, “Thorns” at “Der Berliner Salon” at Bode Museum, and “Threads” at “Fashion Positions” during Berlin Art Week, this runway show represents a significant milestone for the brand, bringing its ethos of luxurious craftsmanship and extravagant yet timeless design to the forefront.

Sustainable Fashion at Berlin Fashion Week: A Look at ‘REBUILT’
At the core of “REBUILT” lies an exploration of transformation through layering—a fundamental element of Vanessa Baernthol’s brand identity. The runway unfolds as a gradual evolution of looks, starting with minimal, semi-transparent base layers and building up to complex, voluminous silhouettes. Through the process of adding and subtracting layers, the collection embodies a dynamic, ever-changing aesthetic, where depth and texture redefine each look. Behind the Craftsmanship: Materials and Design Innovations in FW25
The “REBUILT” runway collection embraces a visual narrative of transformation, where layering functions as an evolving dialogue between delicate base structures and architectural outerwear, and the fluid transition from I- and Y- to X-silhouettes. The colour palette is dominated by dark, obscure black tones, monochromatic greys, ashy earth tones, and light sands.
Final Look & Key Pieces: The Standout Moments from Vanessa Baernthol FW25
Opening Look – a tight structured vegan leather zip-up vest is paired with an asymmetrical beige draped skirt, creating a dialogue between raw structure and fluidity.
Second Look – a continuation of the base-layer concept, featuring a semi-transparent two-piece suit of tights and high neck top with elongated sleeves, layered with an architecturally draped asymmetrical overlay, enhancing the discrepancy of construction and deconstruction.
Final Look – the climactic momentum of the collection—a hooded structured wool cape with high neck and asymmetrical hemline defining an exaggerated all black silhouette, enveloping the model in bold, dramatic fluidity. An extra long flared, billowing taffeta skirt with a sheer overlay reinforces the collection’s core message of rebirth, depth, and reinvention. This final look serves as a visual crescendo, bringing the collection’s transformative theme to a striking conclusion.
“Rebuilt, I wanted to create something that isn’t just a fleeting statement but an integral part of a wardrobe—pieces that can be reinterpreted over and over again,“ says Vanessa Baernthol. “This collection is a response to our fast-paced, throwaway culture. It’s about embracing versatility, longevity, and finding new value in what already exists. The runway show reflects our aim to keep the environmental impact of a fashion show with a duration of only 20–30 minutes as low as possible. We are working with natural resources and bringing unwanted materials back to the cycle.“
HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SUSTAINABILITY – DESIGN, MATERIALS & SHOW EXECUTION
Committed to responsible design, ‚REBUILT‘ exclusively features dead stock fabrics, repurposed through innovative craftsmanship, thanks to a collaboration with FabricHouse.com. Berlin-based shoe brand Trippen, known for its ecologi cal and socially responsible production, provides footwear for the show.
Further reinforcing the collection’s ethos, the set design incorporates discarded plaster chunks from Skulpturengießerei Knaak—negative molds from sculptural casting that are typically discarded, now repurposed as an integral visual element of the show. The architectural setting of the runway, with its open concrete floors and structural columns, reflects the raw, reconstructed aesthetic of the collection. Rental-based elements such as venue chairs, reinforcing the brand’s circular approach to production and consumption.
