Independent brand PAM (Perks And Mini) is thrilled to collaborate with esteemed LA-based artist and filmmaker, Martine Syms. A long-term friend of PAM head designers Shauna Toohey and Misha Hollenbach, the collaboration “came about after many years of fandom on my part,” says Syms. “We had some mutual friends who were always kitted. I finally met Shauna and Misha in Paris, and after many conversations and other collaborations it felt like a natural time for a capsule.”

Reflecting on Artistic Influences of PAM Martine Syms collaboration

With PAM frequently creating fashion from art, and Syms creating art from fashion as a recurring theme in her practice, the collaboration moved organically and without friction. Prominently featured are Syms’ captivating selfies and straightforwardly amusing text work. Her photos can be seen across both womenswear and unisex pieces: the Selfie Awareness Reversible Dress, featuring full-coverage photo prints; the Selfie Scroll Stretch Top and Skirt, employing PAM’s ingenious spiral construction technique; the all-over printed Sativa FC Jersey, B.I.T.C.H. Oversized SS Tee, Poet Cap and Rider Cross Body Bag/Belt; as well as the Don’t Ask Me 4 Shit Baby Tee and Socks

The instantly iconic ‘Don’t Ask Me 4 Shit’ Baby Tee is a remake of a piece gifted to Syms by her friend Erica Bech. “She’s successful and mad busy, so this is a fun bootleg,” Syms explains. “Erica and I were designers together at an unnamed fashion company that sucked. We were constantly being asked for shit.”

A football fan with a love of herbal remedies (hence the “Sativa” FC Jersey), Syms also advocates for a concept called “Double Penetration” — a profound penetration of both heart and mind — aligning perfectly with PAM’s obsession with “Psy-Active NRG.”

Syms’ creative energy and commitment to meaningful connections make her an invaluable part of the PAM experience. Reflecting on the collaboration Syms notes: “It was effortless and fun. That’s why I said yes. As Misha said, if it ain’t fun, don’t do it.”  Never miss a beat in fashion, arts, beauty, and lifestyle, follow FAB L’Style Magazine.
