We get down with the versatile P THE THERVPIST, known in Milan’s creative circles as Savage P, an enigmatic personality fluidly crossing the divides of DJing, music creation, and fashion influence, in an exhilarating examination of cultural fusion and artistic breakthrough. After going on a life-changing journey to Italy at an early age, Prince, who was born in Accra, Ghana, became the pivot for a fascinating story in hip-hop dance.
FAB: Take us back to the beginning. What’s your story?
P THE THERVPIST: My name is Prince; I’m Ghanaian, and I live in Milan, Italy. I came to Italy at 5 years old with my mom. I’m a DJ and music producer.
FAB: Your brand is a blend of music and fashion. Could you elaborate on how you navigate between these two creative domains to create a cohesive artistic identity?
P THE THERVPIST: I love art in general, from fashion to movies to music, etc. I love to express myself through how I dress and how I play music. Being able to combine both just comes naturally, because that’s who I am.
FAB: Your musical style is a blend of Afrohouse, Amapiano, hip-hop, and Afrobeats, among other genres. What do you aim to communicate through this musical diversity?
P THE THERVPIST: Being a DJ or a musician and navigating through different genres might seem like a lack of identity in some cases. But in my case, I can say my cultural background and my upbringing have given me knowledge and the chance to move freely through all these genres. Though my main focus now is the African house movement (amapiano, afrohouse, afrotech).
FAB: You’ve collaborated with several global brands. Could you share an unforgettable experience from working within the fashion industry that had a significant impact on your creative outlook?
P THE THERVPIST: I see my collaboration with brands as a side hustle. I can’t name a particular collaboration that has had a significant impact on me.
FAB: Also, you’ve performed at numerous international venues. Is there a specific gig or location that left a profound mark on your career or personal growth?
P THE THERVPIST: I might say my last recent gig in Madrid was a lot of fun.
FAB: “Supreme Night” has become a prominent event in Italy. What inspired its creation, and how has it evolved over the years to reflect your artistic vision?
P THE THERVPIST: I created Supreme Night with a couple of friends just because we didn’t like the other event we were used to attending. So in order not to be like those events, we put in every effort to make them huge and different.
FAB: Therapills” showcases your signature sound and original productions. What inspired this series, and what do you hope listeners take away from each mix?
P THE THERVPIST: In “thervpills,” I am myself 100%. Without having to please a crowd in front of me. And I’m able to mix all the music that I love.
FAB: What emerging trends in DJing do you find most intriguing, and how have they influenced your approach to creating sets?
P THE THERVPIST: I think DJs have become the main focus of parties again, and I love this trend. For a while, the DJs weren’t the main focus of parties, as people just went to venues. But now I can say that people go out just for certain DJs.
FAB: Technology plays a massive role in modern DJ performances. Are there some of the latest advancements in DJ equipment or software that you notably find super intriguing and that have impacted the way you craft your music?
P THE THERVPIST: The new technology makes it easier for DJs. In fact, there are many more DJs around. There is no particular technology that intrigues me that much, to be honest.
FAB: Virtual events and live streams have become significant avenues for artists. How have these platforms affected your approach to connecting with your audience and curating sets?

FAB: Residencies have been a cornerstone for DJs. In your opinion, how has the significance of residencies evolved over time, and what role do they play in the career trajectory of DJs today?
P THE THERVPIST: As a DJ, having a good and solid residency can only help your growth and build your brand. A good residency can carry your career.
FAB: In recent years, there’s been a growing demand for diversity and inclusivity in the modelling industry. How do you think the definition of ‘beauty standards’ has evolved, and what role do you see yourself playing in this shift?
P THE THERVPIST: Diversity in fashion has been game-changing; I can’t say much about that. As an African who left Italy and fell in love with fashion, the diversity approach has brought me much work and recognition.
FAB: We are also seeing that influencer modelling has gained popularity, with many models crossing over into social media influencing. How do you balance traditional modelling and being a social media influencer?
P THE THERVPIST: Believe in yourself. Dream big. Everything I’m doing now is what I imagined to do and to be. And I’m still growing into it.
FAB: What projects or collaborations can your fans look forward to in the near future that showcase your multifaceted talent and creative vision?
P THE THERVPIST: I would like to be more prolific in my music production and drop several projects I’ve been working on.
