New York Diaries | BLAZÉ MILANO

Blazé Milano woman moves, heir to that intelligentsia that loves a low-profile but has enough self-confidence to take some risks with irony

Can one be in one place and another at the same time? This season the Blazé Milano collection evokes New York atmospheres, populated by women of fresh beauty and full of allure, who move between uptown and downtown. But we are in Milan. Another place, another atmosphere. Are we, really? In the heart of Porta Romana, a Milanese neighborhood like no other, in a house that can’t even be seen from the street, geographical coordinates are lost. Are we in New York, Tokyo, or maybe in a movie? Are we in Italy or elsewhere?

It is in this elsewhere that the Blazé woman moves, heir to that intelligentsia that loves a low-profile but has enough self-confidence to take some risks with irony. She embraces the autumnal tones, coloring velvet blazers and sequin skirts with raspberry pinks, coppery orange, walnut and caramel browns. At ease with her wardrobe, the lengths and volumes of which she modifies to suit her needs; during the day, herringbone fabrics are smeared on Serama bomber jackets and pencil skirts, while micro-check wool blazers match serafino sweaters and leather trousers, essentials to the silhouette. A glimpse into the past of a vanished New York that lives again in her wardrobe without nostalgia is in the Hunny Jacket, a single-breasted jacket with wide lapels and a slightly dropped shoulder pad in a flat bouclé, as well as in the chocolate-coloured sheepskins with leather piping to be worn over a silk spaghetti dress. Bon chic bon genre vibes can be clearly felt in the powder rose mohair wool Petra blazer with its matching skirt, and in the Afterglow liquid velvet coat, with its Mandarin collar, to be worn in the evening. Adding depth and layers are the constant references to the world of masculine elegance, like in the tortoise-shell effect buttoned waistcoats to be worn over shirts and polo shirts, or in the more utilitarian approach, in sheepskin that covers the blazer.

At a crossroads between uptown sophistication and East Village practicality, there is also the safari jacket splattered in velvet chenille, a variant that makes its first debut. Balancing the season’s stylistic Yin and Yang, however, is the part of the collection dedicated to after dinner, built on sophisticated mannish suits in strawberry red wool crepe, cut out tops in ruched silk, boleros and minis with their iconic Smiley pockets. Because – as Tom Wolfe said – if one belongs to New York instantly, whether one has been there five minutes or five years, the Blazé girls have the right wardrobe to declare themselves citizens, at least until they reach their next destination.

 BLAZÉ Milano

Founded in 2013 by Corrada Rodriguez d’Acri, Delfina Pinardi and Sole Torlonia, BLAZÉ Milano was born with the aim of reinterpreting the elegance, sartorial tradition and quality of Made in Italy in a contemporary way through one of the key elements of the female wardrobe: the blazer. Over the course of the seasons, the effortlessy cool and timeless style of the brand has also been extended to other categories, outlining an all-round BLAZÉ aesthetic: from knitwear to denim, to the recently inaugurated sunglasses created in collaboration with L.G.R. Among the distinctive features of BLAZÉ Milano, the Smiley pocket – an iconic element that from day one has characterized the shape of the pockets in the brand’s creations – and the made-to-order service in the Atelier of Milan and Rome.

In 2023, for its 10th anniversary, the brand inaugurates a new chapter in its history by unveiling a major re-branding project that starts with a new logo, designed by the founders in collaboration with the Paris-based creative agency MaisonNue. Created with fonts that mix graphic linearity and more delicate roundness – the epitome of dualities, such as the contrasts between masculine and feminine – it is enriched with a new symbol, the seahorse, which encapsulates two of the inspirations at the heart of BLAZÉ’s most authentic aesthetic: the equestrian world meeting the world of the navy.

BLAZÉ Milano prêt-à-porter collections are available on blaze-milano.com and at an exclusive network of multi-brand and e-commerce stores worldwide.
