Without dissonance no consonance – they cause each other like fire and water or earth and air. The four elements have always been topics of artistic examination, and the sentence “Everything is connected” by Alexander von Humboldt underlines Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudatio si”. A system that exists of chaos and non-linear dynamics in Herbert Brandl’s paintings, which Jorinde Voigt tracks in her “Observations Now” or is revealed in Jan Fabre’s Bic-blue “Vuil Water” paintings. RENDEZ-VOUS AU VERT
Jan Fabre’s large-scale “Naked Metamorphosis” is very much amused about Christian Eisenberger’s “Picknick” in the Sculpture Garden at the Salzach: only 15 walking minutes away from MARIO MAURONER CONTEMPORARY ART SALZBURG in the courtyard of the old residence. Icons like the “Nike” by Kendell Geers or “Traum” by Fabrizio Plessi, which has been on display at the Guggenheim museum in New York, encounter early conceptual sculptures made of CorTen steel by Jaume Plensa and Enrique Asensi. Inside the Gallery House, “EAST meets WEST”: the subtle reliefs alternating in colour by Rashid Al Khalifa from Bahrain meet the filigree floating mobiles by the Austrian artist FERRO.
