C&A launches its first capsule collection with Indian social enterprise Rangsutra for "Because it matters what you wear"
  • C&A partnered up with Indian social supplier Rangsutra, a social enterprise supporting gender equality, to contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship.
  • The collection consists of contemporary, qualitative, and exclusive hand-embroidered pieces. The collection will be available online and in selected stores from May 16, 2024, onwards

In 2023, C&A started a partnership with Indian social supplier Rangsutra, a social enterprise supporting gender equality, to develop a contemporary and qualitative collection of exclusive hand-embroidered pieces. To follow the aim of supporting equal rights along the supply chain and women’s empowerment, C&A chose Rangsutra as a social supplier for the collaboration, as Rangsutra is owned by artisans in India, most of whom are women.

Partnership Rangsutra x C&A

Doing good is, and always has been, the core of C&A’s purpose and values. Therefore, C&A aims to contribute to a better world by supporting good causes and is always exploring new ways of supporting social suppliers. C&A scales Rangsutra’s production by increasing their impact to improve livelihoods for people in disadvantaged situations. “This project is led by women to support women and shows the role fashion plays in uplifting women and creating real positive change. It is a testament to the power of partnership and the impact it has on people’s lives—lives filled with talent, joy, and skilll,” highlights Giny Boer, CEO, C&A Europe.

Rangsutra Capsule Collection

C&A decided to partner up with Rangsutra by offering a unique Rangsutra x C&A collection of high-quality hand-embroidered pieces to customers only and supporting their intention of positively impacting Indian communities. The garments have been made by artisans from rural India, combining traditional techniques with contemporary design. The collection consists of 17 clothing and accessory styles in classic black and white. Each beautiful piece is unique and showcases India’s rich craft heritage. The capsule collection will be available in selected stores across Europe and in the C&A online shop. Stay up to date on the newest in the world of Fashion, Arts, Beauty and Lifestyle; Follow FAB on Instagram.

History of Rangsutra

Rangsutra Crafts India Ltd. (RCIL) was founded in 2006 and is a handmade crafts company owned by over 2,000 artisans who live and work in villages and small towns across India. Rangsutra’s purpose is to create sustainable livelihoods for highly skilled rural artisans by acting as a bridge between them and the market. Each product created follows a fair-trade process that allows the artisans to thrive in their working environment through equal pay, fair wages, a safe working environment, and skills training. The products are built on traditional hand embroidery skills. “Our vision is to continue creating opportunities for inclusive growth by acting as a bridge between artisans and markets, change and continuity, and tradition and modernity. The name Rangsutra is made up of two words to emphasise our craftmanship: Rang, which means colour, and Sutra, which stands for thread,”  explains Sumita Ghose, Founder, Rangsutra.

C&A is proud to partner with Rangsutra to help them scale their business while giving customers across Europe the unique opportunity to get to know the rich tradition of Indian craftsmanship.
