BUERLANGMA epitomises individuality, richness, and diversity. Qiqi Yuan’s design philosophy deeply conveys themes of bravery, freedom, and personal rights through fashion. The brand’s name, ” BUERLANGMA,” carries significant symbolism—“ BUER” signifies uniqueness, while “LANGMA,” derived from the Tibetan term for Mount Everest, symbolises the pinnacle of achievement within the fashion industry.
For SS25, BUERLANGMA has developed a collection divided into five distinct yet interconnected sections, each exploring the intricate relationship between nature, human culture, and historical influences. A standout feature of this collection is a series of masks inspired by traditional Manchu ethnic clothing, showcasing the brand’s commitment to marrying cultural heritage with contemporary design.
This season also marks a significant expansion of BUERLANGMA’s creative collaborations. The brand has engaged three designers and artists from diverse disciplines, enriching the collection with unique accessories, garments, and artworks. This collaborative spirit underscores BUERLANGMA’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of fashion.
Qiqi Yuan’s Inspiration Behind BUERLANGMA SS25 Capsule 5
Qiqi Yuan draws inspiration from personal memories to imbue the collection with nostalgic elements, such as clothing techniques reminiscent of Chinese origami, a craft deeply embedded in festival traditions and the collective memory of modern China. The five sub-themes—Desire, Power, Degenerate Peace, and Vold—reflect Yuan’s commentary on society through past, present, and future lenses.
Themes of BUERLANGMA SS25 Capsule 5 Collection
Each sub-theme is interconnected, with subtle narratives woven throughout. For example, the theme of Power features Rococo-inspired pieces that explore the historical interplay between power and fashion, illustrating how the influence of nobility once dictated the styles of an entire continent. “This brings us a lot of thinking. Hundreds of years ago, fashion was decided by the nobles. In today’s era, fashion is no longer entirely determined by a person or organisation with power. Such a huge disparity makes us feel that this is the best manifestation of the vitality of fashion. Nowadays, fashion is no longer exclusive to a certain class, but a story that flows through everyone,” Yuan reflects the evolving nature of fashion.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of London Fashion Week, BUERLANGMA will present a powerful runway moment. Models will initially wear oversized black coats, which will be removed to reveal intricate dresses beneath, symbolising the evolution of fashion over the past four decades. BUERLANGMA’s SS25 Capsule 5 promises to deliver a thought-provoking and visually stunning presentation, reaffirming the brand’s position at the forefront of the fashion industry.
