Japanese designer Yumi Katsura presented her latest Couture collection “Bonds” during Couture Week in Paris. Katsura, being famous for incorporating Japanese and European influences into her creations, studied the works of painters both from her home country and Europe and translated their work into her Couture collection.
Studying intensively the works of Japanese artist Hukosai and the traditional art form of Ukiyo-e, Yumi Katsura pays tribute to the technique of woodblock prints, which also had a great influence on western art. Using the traditional silk dying technique <Yuzen, she transforms the magic and beauty of nature into a couture collection, that embraces the European and Japanese culture.
