The much-anticipated 10th anniversary of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam (AFWA) took place on Friday, August 30th, 2024, at De Koning Party & Events. The event was a resounding success, bringing together fashion enthusiasts, industry leaders, and cultural icons from across the globe to celebrate a decade of African fashion, art, and culture.
A Milestone Celebration
This year’s event was not just a showcase of fashion but a celebration of the journey AFWA has taken over the last ten years. The event kicked off with a glamorous red carpet reception at 15:00, where guests arrived dressed to the nines in their finest “Royalty” attire, setting the tone for an evening of elegance and grandeur.
Business Summit: Knowledge Sharing & Networking
From 15:00 to 16:30, the Business Summit provided a platform for insightful panel discussions, brand presentations, and interviews. Industry experts shared their knowledge on the latest trends, business strategies, and the future of African fashion, all while offering ample opportunities for networking and collaboration.

Fashion Shows: A Spectacle of Creativity and Culture
The highlight of the evening was the series of fashion shows that commenced at 16:30 and continued until 22:15. Nine designers from across Africa and the diaspora showcased their latest collections, each bringing a unique blend of traditional African aesthetics and contemporary fashion trends to the runway. The participating designers included:

House of Nevo (Cameroon)
Cindra Accessories (Martinique)
Van Eyong Couture (Cameroon)

Wellowe (Uganda)
Each collection was met with applause, with attendees praising the designers for their creativity, craftsmanship, and the way they beautifully represented African culture through fashion.

Special Appearances & Performances – Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam 2024
The evening was further enriched by special appearances from notable figures such as Miss Independent Netherlands 2024, Suzy Bhagwat, and Carmen Julia Hernandez, known as “The Latin-Hype woman,” who captivated the audience with her powerful presence and inspiring words.
Musical performances added rhythm and soul to the event, with standout acts from Queen-Zhanel, a talented 13 year-old singer with a passion for soul music, Opera Singer Olivia Le Roux with pianist Charlie Bo Meijering, and high-energy performances from artists Ashercax Next and others.

A Culinary Experience
Guests were also treated to a taste of African cuisine, courtesy of Goldcoast Restaurant. The menu featured a variety of delicious dishes, including Tuna Pie, Fried Yam & Chicken, Jollof Rice with Chicken, and more, providing a culinary journey through the diverse flavors of Africa.
