We’ve had to wait for months and a couple of years for these sequels, and we’re finally getting them. Get ready to have your cinematic world rocked by your favourite actors and production houses. What to do with the built-up excitement and exhilaration from overwatched trailers? Well, sit tight and mark the dates. Here are ten long-awaited continuations of your favourite movies.

2024’s Most Anticipated Movie Releases

1. Deadpool 3

    We are as excited as ever to see Deadpool’s and Wolverine’s in action. After so much delay and change of dates, Marvel Studios’ threequel, Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynold as Merc the Mouth and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is set to be released on July 26, 2024.

    2. The Old Guard

    Who is going to lead the army of immortals now? In the Old Guard prequel directed by Victoria Mahoney, Andy, played by Charlize Theron, suffers a mortal wound just before her long-lost friend and soldier makes an unexpected appearance. The prequel that was a huge hit on Netflix in 2020 has kept us wanting for more. Although there is no release date, the film is in the works.

    3. Joker: Folie à Deux

    It’s going to be an interesting ride with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, who will be playing Harlequin in Joker Part 2. Better not get in their way. The Joker is said to be hitting the big screens with a slam on October 4, 2024. Brace up for the rocky, sweet ride.

    4. Bridgerton 

    The third season of Bridgerton will be divided into two parts of four episodes. The first will debut on May 16, 2024. We will see what the return of Bridgerton has up the sleeves; what love will bloom this season, and will our dear lady Whistletown come back with her steamy gossip?     5. Kung Fu Panda 4

    Here’s one for the animation lovers. The fourth part of Kung Fu Panda is to be released in March 2024. Po, who becomes the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, is saddled with the responsibility of training a new warrior to become the next Dragon Warrior. The villain, voiced by Viola Davis, soon becomes a problem. Let’s see how Po finds his way around in his action comedy.

    6. Despicable Me 4

    Directed by Patrick Delage and Chris Renaud, Despicable Me 4 will be released on July 3, 2024. Coming out almost 6 years after its prequel, the fourth part finally arrives as Lou, voiced by Steve Carrell, and Lucy, voiced by Kristen Wing, continue their adventure as the Anti-Villain League.

    7. Gladiator 2

    Let’s take a trip to Rome, shall we? Apparently, Gladiator does not end with the death of Maximus, and this sparks curiosity about what the sequel would be about. The prequel, as directed by Ridley Scott, is a critically acclaimed classic epic drama that bagged multiple deserving awards. Gladiator 2 will be on the big screen by November 22, 2024.

    8. BeetleJuice

    BeetleJuice, starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder Jenna Ortega Catherine O’Gara will arrive in theatres on September 6, 2024. Jenna Ortega gives a sneak peak of what to expect, as she reveals that not much CGI was used during the shooting. Get fired up to see this practical horror comedy.

    9. The Garfield Movie

    Originally scheduled for February 16th, Garfield is at long last set to hit theatres in May 2024. Let’s hope that doesn’t change. Based on the movie Garfield, originally created by Jim Davis, the spin-off presents Garfield’s wild outdoor adventure as the lasagna-loving cat reunites with his long-lost, street-loving dad.

    10. Mufasa: The Lion King

    Mufasa is a spin-off of the Lion King story created as a prequel, telling the story of Mufasa’s rise to power and detailing events before the birth of Simba and the legacy of Simba’s grandfather. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 20, 2024.
