The new autumn/winter collection “Flower in the Dark“ by Marcel Ostertag inspires us and gives us courage, strength, and assurance in these difficult times. An ocean of 70s-vibe flowers fills us with love, which we present on the outside and want to pass on to others. It was especially important to Marcel Ostertag to work with even more colour than usual. All of us are affected by what is going on in the world.It is Marcel Ostertag’s heartfelt wish to confront everything negative with positivity. A power collection for power people.
The designer uses the power of his regular customers as a source of inspiration. As a result of the pandemic,he connected far more deeply with many of them during individual appointments. This close contact with his muses inspired Marcel Ostertag to design a collection tailor-made for true personalities. Again, not only classic models will perform on the runway, but also customers and muses who have proven in previous seasons how strong and beautiful they are.
Thanks to the concept of making the collection approachable and wearable for everyone, Marcel Ostertag has established new networks. This has enabled the designer and his team to generate healthy growth despite the economically difficult times. The fan community is ever-increasing and encourages Marcel in his mission.
During the design process, Marcel pursued a central and also courageous question: „Does a collection always need a guiding thread, and must it always please the general taste? Or can a design be tailor-made for a specific person and still become a bestseller?“ At the same time, the designer always follows his vision of fashion: Wearable, yet extraordinary. Fair-trade production, yet affordable. Designer fashion for outstanding personalities who appreciate good craftsmanship.
From a very young age on, I loved creating fashion with my hands. Today, it is not only my passion and my profession; it is my life’s mission that fulfils me. I have to be creative in order to exist. My label is my baby. No, our label is our baby.“ Because for four years, Marcel Ostertag has been happily married. His husband, Markus Ostertag, is manager of the joint concept store in Berlin.
Flowers in the dark. The collection’s close-to-nature colours let the runway glow: vibrant pink and mystical violet, accompanied by dynamic fuchsia. Mint, peach, and yellow glow in this wonderful competition. Lush fir green and deep night blue form the calming contrast. Old pink, cream, off-white, and black complete the colour flow and lend the collection the necessary depth and noble grace. The play of colours triggers a real energy boost and makes Ostertag’s muses swing.
Also, haptic experiences are guaranteed: The collection invites you to touch it and feel comfortable. Among the glamorously swinging dresses, our skin discovers sensually soft materials that send intensive messages to our brain: Love—home; nostalgia; romance. But also: Departure, new beginning, desire, and gratitude
Very often, haptics release memories and desires. This is what Marcel Ostertag is extremely good at: listening to his fans and translating their desires and wishes into the language of fashion.
Caftans, swinging dresses, blouse dresses, maxi-coats, suits, and a caressing soft knit collection are combined or broken with new silhouettes and daring combinations. Sequins in pink and burgundy sparkle with the flowerprints made of mini-sequins. Some designs glow in all-over print, while others feature single maxi-flowers.
A collection that is exciting but not agitated and can stay in wardrobes for a long time thanks to timeless glamour.Ostertag loves sustainable, timeless classics.
