As we move into Phase 2 of the pandemic, it goes without saying that the Covid-19 virus has been the cause of tragic times for many people. There is no way to fully describe the loss experienced by parts of our global community, or to know the distress we have yet to endure. Yet, there is another reality that has accompanied this pandemic.
It wasn’t our mom that told us to go to our room and think about what we had done. It was Mother Nature who sat us down and forced us to be still, to spend time with ourselves, and think about what we should be doing differently. We’ve been given an opportunity to redefine and reprioritize what matters. In this time-out, we have been gifted with immeasurable potential to grow and to change, not only for ourselves, but for the world around us.
When we see the death count climbing, the violence, and people being murdered in front of our eyes by those in authority, it brings us to tears and we wonder how change will actually transpire. We wonder what we can do to create the changes needed. We wonder if it is even possible! The undercurrent of chaos is carrying us at a speed we’ve never seen before, but it is also carving a new path.
So, which direction are we moving? Just breathe…and keep reading! The direction is up to you, the individual.
We are in a moment in time where we are transforming as a society, through individual transformation. As a society, we are like an organism. When a small percentage of us shift in a certain direction, we can create a certain momentum that moves the whole of society.
Just like a birth, society is being squeezed, right now. It looks and feels like death, if we don’t understand it is actually just a birth pang. Once you realize it’s a birthing process, you approach it differently. You breathe, long deep breaths, to allow the transition, the birth, to occur.
In many ways, mankind is like a caterpillar, right now. We have eaten many times our weight out of Mother Earth. Then, a split occurred and we were forced to spin a cocoon, a quiet space of transformation. Just like the caterpillar, we can actively transform, like the imaginal cells that find each other in the cocoon. While we are in this still and quieted space, we can and must create a metamorphosis. Just like the caterpillar has no idea what it is about to become, so it is with us.
With all of mankinds advancements, namely the internet, humanity has never had the same opportunity it does right now, to restructure and reimagine a new normal. As relational and connected beings on this planet, we move ourselves forward in the ways our ideas and our intuition guide us. Not everything we say or do is correct 100% of the time, but we strive to push past obstacles and create the life we want. We make decisions, we set goals and we work to facilitate an outcome suitable for self and those interrelated.
It took Covid-19 to show us that we are not a “me” culture, but a “we” culture, completely intertwined with nature and every other person on the globe. It’s been a wake-up call for everyone. That’s okay…in the history of planet Earth, we’re an extremely young species. But eventually, a toddler can be taught how to care for its bedroom. In time, the child grows to care for the rooms beyond their bedroom, the people beyond self and the connection they have to the world around them.
As we grow through this time, it’s important to recognize that we are energetic beings. More importantly, the energy we radiate effects the people around us. We must choose the energy we radiate as individuals, because we are the consciousness of society. The trap door to our subconscious has been flung wide open and ideologies hiding under the surface are being brought into the light. It’s a good thing. So many of us have been lulled into complacency, which over time, looks more like complicity. But the more we examine subconscious, the less space it has to reside in us, because it is being updated into consciousness. In a state of awareness, we can honor all of our diversities and still move in related directions.
So, how do we up-level our energy? Primarily, slow down to connect with your breath, your inner spirit. Pay attention to how you are breathing and where you feel your breath in the body. If your breath is shallow, ask yourself why? Why do you believe you don’t deserve lungs full of fresh air? There is enough for everyone, so go ahead and take deep breaths, all day long. This connects you to your inner state of being, to peace, while providing an entry point into compassion, nurturing, and loving oneself — which allows us to love beyond boundaries. When an airplane experiences turbulance and oxygen masks fall from overhead, parents are told to put their mask on first, because they are no good to their child if they are passed out and unconscious. Connecting to our breath, from moment to moment, is just like that — it allows us to be our best self. If we are not breathing long, deep, healthy breaths, we are in a state of stress, or fear, or unworthiness.
In this day and age of masks, it isn’t always easy to get a good, deep breath. This is not to suggest you take off your mask and disrespect the people around you. Just do the best you can to completely fill your lungs with oxygen and when you have time, get out into nature and catch up on some deep, extended breathing.
Beyond the spirit of your breath, ask yourself what makes you feel alive. What causes you to feel energized, or emotional? Is there something your soul keeps bringing you back to? What would be the experience of living that highest version of yourself? If you are thinking of all the things that kept you from living out a dream, step out of victimhood and recognize that it was not meant to be at that time. Imagine how answering the calling of your heart contributes to your well-being and to the good vibe among humanity in the future.
Our purpose is to become more or who we are and less of who we are not, at our core. Through developmental stages, culture and environment, our ability to individuate may not have been supported, so now is the time to regenerate and reclaim our own inner authority. Find your superpowers and bring them into the light. At your core, you are a brilliant being of energy!
Trust that we don’t evolve backwards — a new normal is coming. What do you want society to look like after the pandemic? When you imagine leaping forward 10 years, what does the future look like for you as an individual? What does it look like for society? Did you contribute to the separateness and division, or did you encourage connection and devotion to positive transformation of the world around you?
It’s possible to advocate and champion the issues you believe in with love, power, presence and peace, knowing you are helping to move society into a more desireable future. We have what we need to up-level through this challenge. So breathe, and radiate love!
