As part of the W.E4. FASHION DAY and Berlin Fashion Week, Danny Reinke presents his autumn/winter collection “The Dreams in the Cupboard”. The new collection is inspired by the experiences, impressions and longings that we as individuals collect and carry within us. We fill some with life, others remain hidden within us forever. We often try to preserve and enclose the wishes that we have realized – be it an object that we brought back as a souvenir from a trip or thoughts and feelings that we experienced in special moments and enclose in our memory – “A Every wish, if fulfilled, immediately has babies.” (Wilhelm Busch). We are constantly developing. Our lives are characterized by collecting new impressions, processing them and expressing them again. Memory becomes a chamber of curiosities that constantly grows and sometimes reveals old, preserved moments that were long thought forgotten.
Selected color contrasts dominate this F/W 24/25 collection. For example, turquoise contrasts with red or orange contrasts with pink, creating an electrifying play of colors. Patterns and fabric mixes give the collection a captivating liveliness. 3D printed structures imitate our earth’s fauna in a fascinating way. A core element of the collection is the handmade knotting, which is made from leftover local wool. They give the collection its own structure and point out rare creatures. Old pieces of jewelry were also deconstructed in order to place them decoratively or to knit and crochet them in combination with wool yarn. The setting for this collection is the Renaissance era. The aim of the collection is to visually create a personal cabinet of wonders that manifest one’s own wishes and dreams for eternity.
An essential part of the collection is the dream aspect. A bed placed in the middle of the runway is the setting for the start of the show and the central prop for the introduction to the dramaturgy. Directly linked to the first key look of the collection, this place of calm and peace connects both worlds of dream and reality.
The return to the forgotten and the appreciation of the unusual are the inspiration of this F/W 24/25 collection. Thorough research is a pillar of Danny Reinke’s work – the essence of creating a cosmos for new collections. Another fundamental building block of the label is the high level of craftsmanship. Every piece of clothing, every detail is carefully handcrafted in the Berlin studio. For the first time, the label worked with textile designer Hannah Kaplan for this collection. As part of this collaboration, unique garments refined with gold leaf were created.
The successful concept of the W.E4. FASHION DAY went into the next round on February 7th, 2024 at the Verti Music Hall. On this occasion, Danny Reinke showed the “The Dreams in the Cupboard” collection to the audience for the first time. The format is an official part of the BERLIN FASHION WEEK and is supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Business in collaboration with the Fashion Council Germany.
SCHRAMM X Danny Reinke
As part of the F/W 24 collection, SCHRAMM and Danny Reinke worked together for the first time and created unique looks that brought together the fusion of both brands on a craftsmanship level. This resulted in garments made from luxurious upholstery fabrics. An equally artistic highlight of the collection was a construct made of pillows and duvets, which represented a poetic opening to the show.
